Making a Grand Entrance
I must apologise again for the delay in updating. Over the Christmas break I was admitted to hospital for emergency surgery, which, while minor, still took a bit to recover from.
Good news is that SO much happened while I was offline, and there will be a LOT to share with you!
Wedding music update. Have you found the perfect song to sip champers to while you are getting dressed?? What about that modern, meaningful song for when all eyes are on you as you come down the aisle?? There are some beauties in that list, I think my favourite list so far has been the recessional list (Get your married Groove on blog post), so much fun stuff in there.
And now, the formal photos are done, if you are having them (I recommend you do, your mood will be SO different after the ceremony and a good photographer will capture some truly beautiful first moments with your new spouse that you will treasure forever).
In Australia, the traditional receiving line has been replaced with a grand entrance at the reception, where all of the bridal party are introduced in pairs to seated guests who have all relaxed with a drink or two and introduced themselves to the strangers on the table (there should always be a couple of strangers on each table, it makes for great conversation starters).
So, what music should play as your MC is announcing your best friends, parents, that far too cute flower girl and ring bearer and of course, the star of the show - the newlyweds!
Here's a list, with links to youtube, some are romantic, some are tongue in cheek, some are joyful, all will help create a mood for the rest of the evening
Everything is awesome - YES, from the Lego movie, because, well, it's awesome! Just like your wedding day.
Walking on sunshine - an 80's one hit wonder that's perfect for a hipster summer wedding
I Believe in love - ROCK!!
Signed sealed delivered Motown never goes out of style. Incidentally, this is what we were playing full blast in my limo when I pulled up at my renewal of vows (and I walked down the aisle to UB40, here I am baby come and take me).
Just can't get enough - Depeche Mode - no more words needed.
Dog days are over - Florence and the machine, because her voice is perfection.
Nothin' but a good time - great song to start a night of celebrating, AND the clip has my favourite accessory - guyliner!
Star Wars Main Theme - orchestral AND geeky, two of my favourite things, plus you won't have to worry about people getting the words wrong when they sing along.
Somebody loves you - and you just married them!
So, there they are, let me know what you would use in the comments please??
